Me: Three-day weekend, WOOOOOOO! No schoolwork, WOOOOOO! I’m gonna read ALL THE BOOKS! So excited! It’s gonna be the best!
Universe: You seem really excited. How ‘bout a cold or a sinus infection to go with your long weekend? Wouldn’t that be fun?! WOOOOOO!
You guys, I’m never sick. I pride myself on my superhuman immune system and my ability to avoid ingesting germs. Well, I must have let my guard down at some point last week, ‘cause I’ve got SOMETHING. It’s all in my nose, so it’s either a cold or a sinus infection. Still too early to tell which. My left nostril started getting stuffy Friday night (it’s always my left nostril), and now it’s pretty much full-blown (no pun intended), whatever it is. I’m waiting to see how it progresses.
ANYWAY, that means no Sunday morning breakfast date with Eric, BOO HISS. I can’t be one of those people who goes out sick and spreads the snot-nosed love. I complain about those people all the time. Heh. So we’re staying in and Eric is getting me breakfast from McD’s, which is totally not the same as a homemade breakfast from our favorite locally-owned breakfast spot down the street. THANKS, UNIVERSE. 🙄
Also, I told Eric I would make lasagna for dinner tonight as my belated Valentine’s Day gift to him, so I need to save my strength. I hope he enjoys that Plague Lasagna. 😂
But I’ve been getting a lot of reading done around my naps! I have about 30 pages left of How Long ‘til Black Future Month? (N.K. Jemisin), and I think I’ll read Weather (Jenny Offill) next. Weather is pretty short, so I should be able to start and finish that one today.
Oh, and like I said about Ursula K. Le Guin, if you enjoy sci-fi/fantasy and you haven’t read anything by N.K. Jemisin, you’re seriously missing out. BFM is so good.
On the TV front, we’re all caught up on This Is Us, so I think we’re going to start watching V Wars tonight.
Now I need to go blow my nose and take a shower so I can put on clean jammies and lie on the couch until it’s time to make dinner. I’d just like to give the Universe a shout-out and thank it again for giving me the plague for my three-day weekend. Stay classy, Universe, you’re the best.
